Indonesia shows interest in ePortfolio

On 28/02, Mieke presented the results of the VLIR / UOS ePortfolio project (2018-2020) at the online midwife conference UNISA in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The title of the lecture was: Can ePortfolios scaffold competency-based workplace learning in low-income countries? Lessons learned from a qualitative pilot study in midwifery education in Rwanda.

130 participants were enthusiastic about the results. They asked the following questions:

  •  Is there an offline option?
  •  How can you guarantee that all competencies are assessed via an ePortfolio?
  •  How can you ensure that the information of the students in the ePortfolio is based on real learning experiences in practice?
  •  We use the Moodle platform but struggle with a lack of feedback. How can you solve this with an ePortfolio?

We were not surprised by these questions. The problems related to workplace learning are universal and widely investigated in research project. Let’s hope that the SCAFFOLD-research team can find smart technological solutions to solve the worldwide problems and  improve the quality of workplace learning.
