We are processing personal data

We will process your personal data, but, as you will find out below, we will do everything in our power to handle it correctly, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and Belgian law. By personal data we mean any information that we can link to you or that allows us to identify you. This privacy statement applies to the personal data we collect about you within the framework of the use of the website www.sbo-scaffold.com and our newsletter.

For what purposes do we use your data?

Your personal data are only collected for:

  • the proper functioning of the website
  • the external communication on the research project SBO SCAFFOLD via our newsletter

To ensure the proper functioning of the website, we use cookies that allow us to identify you. These cookies are stored until the end of your browser session based on our legitimate interest in making a well-functioning website available. More information on the use of cookies on this website can be found below under 'Cookie policy'.

Interested website users have the possibility to subscribe to the newsletter of the research project SBO SCAFFOLD via this website. If we obtain your consent, we will process your e-mail address. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time. You can unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of each newsletter or by contacting us at privacy@sbo-scaffold.com. We will keep your e-mail address for the duration of the SBO SCAFFOLD research project (until 1 January 2024).

Who has access to your data?

The researchers (including the promoters) involved in the SCAFFOLD SBO research project may have access to the collected personal data.

We do not share your personal data with third parties who wish to use your data for direct marketing purposes. We may use service providers, representatives or contractors to support us in achieving the aforementioned objectives, e.g. to provide the website and newsletter. In providing these services, these external parties may have access to your personal data or may have to process them.

Furthermore, we will only transfer your personal data to third parties if we are required to do so by law or if we believe in good faith that such transfer is reasonably necessary to comply with legal procedures or to respond to any claims.

Your data subject rights

We would like to inform you about the rights you can exercise with regard to the personal data that we process. In particular, you have:

  1. Right of access: you can ask whether personal data about you are being processed and obtain access to that personal data as well as the purposes of processing, the categories of personal data concerned, the (categories) of recipients, the existence of the rights listed in 2), 3) and 4) and the circumstances of automated processing (see also below). However, you can already find most of this information in this statement;
  2. Right of rectification: if your data is incorrect, you can ask us to correct or supplement it;
  3. Right to erasure or "to be forgotten": in a number of cases and circumstances, you can have your personal data erased (without unreasonable delay). With regard to the processing in the context of this research project, you may request this if: a) your data are no longer necessary for the purposes for which we collected them; b) you withdraw your consent; and c) we would use your data unlawfully. Exceptions to this right shall apply in the context of scientific research insofar as the exercise of this right is likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of the objectives of that processing;
  4. Right to restriction of processing: if certain criteria are met, you can ask us to (temporarily) stop processing (with the exception of storing) your personal data. This right exists in particular: a) during the period necessary for us to verify the accuracy of your data processed by us, if you contest this; b) if your data has been unlawfully processed, but you oppose the deletion referred to in 3); c) if we no longer need your data, but you do so for the purpose of establishing, exercising or defence of legal claims;
  5. Right to transfer data: you may ask to transfer your personal data in an easily readable and manageable format to another data controller or to you.

You have the right to lodge a complaint

You also have the right to complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority if you believe that the processing of your personal information by us breaches the GDPR.

Do you have to provide the personal data?

As set out in our Cookie Policy, we use cookies that are technically necessary to ensure the proper functioning of our website. You cannot refuse them. You are not required to provide your personal information for our newsletter. If you do not wish to provide it, you will not be able to receive newsletters.
